OVERCOMING MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION

Author, guest speaker, sportsman, coach and mentor with over 35 years experience: Carl shares his experience of family difficulties and a broken home, growing up in a children’s home from aged 6 to 15 (1974 – 1983). Leaving school with no qualifications and direction, caught up in the negative influences of life on the street and playing soccer in a mens league, Carl struggled with aggression and was banned from playing. Losing his motivation, Carl lost his release, energy and confidence, soon experiencing depression. Reconnecting with his long distance running, fitness and sport instilled in him at school, movement became his medicine, going through a mental break down and emotional break through in 1985/86, connecting to the universal flow that would guide him through life. Moving on to play semi-professional soccer, dance and drug culture would take over around 1987, experiencing more break downs and break throughs over the years, in 1994 Carl started boxing amateur then professional, experiencing his greatest shift.

Retiring from professional boxing in 1997, Carl found his calling working in alternative learning at a school for challenged youth. Whilst developing his BoxWize Skills System, studying stress, human biology and behaviour for over 28 years, sharing his life experience and perspective on stress, he has created alternate learning programs within mainstream schools, youth projects, delivering his skills system through inspired learning presentations. Working with the Hull Youth Justice Service in Hull, UK, for over 9 years, 2004-2013, successfully preventing reoffending, corporate businesses, sports academies, athletes and sports stars from Premiership Football-Soccer, Great Britain Rugby League. Working alongside boxing world champions, setting up world title training camps, also creating BoxWize Skills World Record Events. Moving to Edmonton, Canada to work and be with his son in 2014, Carl has constantly developed his work, guest speaking in schools, providing BoxWize skills Youth Development Programs, working with professional clients, families, hockey athletes and teams, along with YESS, Youth Empowerment Support Services. Creating The EnergyWize University Of Life in 2018, his A-R-T Skills System and upcoming Online StressWize Guide, providing Mental Health Mentorship and how to Switch On Heart-Mind Intelligence.

Carl shares his unique perspective of breaking down and breaking through, going on a journey of healing and self discovery and how he overcome mental health and addiction. Sharing insights from his first book ‘Activating Flow, Releasing The Power Within” self published in December 2022.

2023 – 2024 Canadian Tour: Empower 2 Recover Foundation – Mental Health & Addictions Events: Co-creating Empower 2 Recover Foundation events and an online platform, I’ve had the opportunity to guest speak across Canada. From New Westminster BC, Kenora and Timmins Ontario, Calgary and Edmonton Alberta and Saskatoon. Sharing the stage with over 100 lived experienced speakers from all walks of life, with over 90 community assets showing up, treatment centres, alternative recovery programs, recovery nutrition, energy healing modalities and holistic health services, inspiring and empowering people through recovery from mental health and addiction.
